For invertebrate kick sampling
Before working in or near the watercourse volunteers must have completed a water safety online course. At the end of the course you can download a certificate which must be sent to the PBA Monitoring Coordinator at pilhillbrook@gmail.com to file for liability insurance purposes.

This species list has been made possible by the WildFish SmartRivers initiative and the hard work of Watercress & Winterbournes (W&W) volunteers. The SmartRivers initiative involves carrying out detailed anaylsis and counts of what is found in a biannual kick sample taken from key sites within the W&W Test catchment. The SmartRivers key site on the Pillhill Brookshares its location with the PBA Balksbury Park monitoring site.
The species list and embedded image indentfication links can be used to help PBA volunteers get more familiar with the invertebrate families that they may expect to find in our brook.
