The PBA currently have one SmartRivers survey site at our Balksbury Park monitoring site. A 3 minute kick-sample is placed in alcohol and sent away to a lab for detailed analysis of everything not just the 8 species PBA volunteers count every month.

Water Quality Monitoring Network 3rd Annual Report
Has a dedicated chalk stream section featuring the amazing work of our colleagues at the Upper Itchen Restoration CIC . Their report on Nutrient Monitoring on the Test, Itchen and Meon includes data from our 9 PBA water quality monitoring sites along the Pillhill Brook.
The Riverfly Partnership produces annual and monthly reports summarising the data collected by their monitors nationwide. The PBA contributed 63 invertebrate kick-sampling surveys in 2025.
